Day 38- Love Fulfills Dreams

Delight yourself in the Lord; and He will give you the desires of your heart.
 Psalm 37:4

We all have dreams.  Even if we have missed out on things that we thought we wanted, God still has dreams in our hearts.  You may not even be aware of some of them yet, but through prayer, God will open you heart, eyes and soul to a new dream.  He will awaken something new in you.  Even if you don’t have “the” dream, I am sure you have a dream of what your life could be if only… or this would… or that person would…  You get my idea.  They may not be big, amazing dreams, it may simply be that you want your husband to respect you, you want your spouse to recognize what you do for the family, you simply want an unexpected hug when you least expect it.  Those are dreams because they are things that you are thinking about for the future.  How little and insignificant they may seem to you, they are big dreams in the eyes of our Lord. He wants to give you the desires of your heart.

We can’t forget your spouse.  He has dreams as well.  You may be a big factor in a lot of them.  Maybe he feels the same way.  Maybe his “little” dreams are that he would come home to a hug each day, maybe dinner would be ready when he walks through the door, or maybe after the kids are in bed, the two of you sit on the couch and talk about his day.  I can guarantee you that if you can figure out what your husband’s dreams are and are able to meet them at least half way, if not more, your marriage will begin to change.

There hasn’t even been a mention about the bigger dreams, the type of dreams that keep you plugging away at life day after day, the fire that burns inside, that motivates you.  It’s your passion.  It’s your husband’s passion.  Do you not know what your passion is anymore?  Get in His Word.  Stand on the promises of God and ask Him to reveal the passion waiting to come back alive or be born in you.  It is there.  Life has a way of taking over and Satan uses our hurts and disappointments to bury us and our passion.  You know you’re being used, right?  Satan uses ourselves against us.  He uses the pain, discouragement and hurt that we have endured and throws it in our face.  He is a user and he needs to be stopped.  Rebuked.  He is doing the same to your husband, the person you pledged to love for a lifetime.  If you knew someone was using your husband to keep him from his destiny, or using your children to keep them from their God-given destiny, I doubt there would be anything that would stand in the way of you standing up and marching into battle against the enemy.  You would be like a mother lion protecting her cubs.  It is evil.  That is what we are up against.  Satan wants to see marriages in ruins.  He takes pleasure in causing so much pain that our dreams die as a result.  Do not allow it.  Take a stand for your life, your spouse and your marriage.  God already won this war and He is waiting for you to pick up your weapons and fight.

Today’s dare.

Ask yourself what your mate would want if it was obtainable.  Commit this to prayer, and start mapping out a plan for meeting some (if not all) of their desires, to whatever level you possibly can.

At the end of the day, answer these questions:

1.    What has made you resistant to fulfilling your mate’s desires in the past?

2.    How would it change your relationship if they knew their dreams were a priority to you?

3.    What desires are you attempting to meet?

Congratulations! You have completed Day 38! Tomorrow’s dare is Love Endures.
